Murmur Head

Don’t leave me alone with my thoughts
They’ll bite me, rip and shred
Don’t leave me alone with my thoughts
They’ll murmur till I’m dead
For a story is trapped
In this hurt, lonely head
A story of two
One of which died in the end
It is in this narrative
That I find the spawn
Of the insanity I proclaimed
Until my heart was gone
I watched the world turn
As new days came to dawn
Though dead eyes I saw this
As my smile was just a con
In my mind, a loop plays back
A loop that imitates the old me
Before my heart went black
Now there is nothing
Where my heart once resided
Only are there thoughts
Of a life unrequited
So don’t leave me alone with my thoughts
They murmur in the dark
They talk of what I lost
And how I once had a certain spark
They eat my very existence
My livelihood, my hope
They rise up in resistance
So that even in the light, I grope
Don’t leave me alone with them
I beg of you, I plead
Don’t let me speak with them
Please make this heart to bleed
I have nothing with which to repay you
I am so very poor with no money
Not even love I can give you
For she was not the one to die, it was me
