The Time Keeper

The world has turned sour
But just in my eyes
For upon love I scour
And hate I emphasize
I am the time keeper
The keeper of time
I empower the reaper
And comprise your every goodbye
I look over your sorrows
And coldly pass you by
For it is not my position
To comfort you when you cry
I once heard somewhere
That the Lord will provide
Don’t be so sure
As time does not edify
In the book, it is written
That there shall be an end to my kind
But in another book I see
My power fortified
Many think I am all knowing
This is not true, I know not
What will happen in the end
Or if the end is for naught
I do not see forward
As some would suggest
I only see backward
As that is all I can digest
I do not know your fortune
Merely what you’ve done
I do not see the world end
I can’t predict for anyone
The world is not my oyster
Its inhabitants are not my slaves
For I am not the foiler
I am merely the one who counts the days
So the world has turned sour
But just in my eyes
For the years I devour
While innocency dies
Upon love I scour
And hate I emphasize
For time serves no man
Because no man would ever love time
