Hole

There’s a hole in my heart
It’s a dusty, old well
I thought I could fill it
With the things others sell
But here I am stuck between
Heaven and Hell
Waiting for the time
You’ll come back around
I thought I could run
I thought I could hide
I thought I could hold
All the heartbreak inside
I thought I’d withstand
All the lovesick pain
But who am I kidding?
My love, it is stained
For in the rush of our love
We lost track of who
Who we fell in love with
When we first said, “I love you.”
In the beginning, we thought
We knew who was who
But look at us now
We know not what is true
Our names, they are shattered
As our hearts are to
My mind, it is scattered
My soul, an empty church pew
My hate boils high
On the devil’s stove
While my love is on the back burner
Wishing to know…
