The Specter Eclipse

A Story From Horrorville- The Specter Eclipse

Once, I laid asleep one night
Dreaming of
When men would take flight
When suddenly
A noise of fright
Awoke me too
A dreadful sight
In front of me, stood there a maid
A maid with mangled hair in a matted braid
A maid whose eyes were colored Jade
And whose crimson red lips were made
For me to touch and to kiss
For you see, she was a friend I sorely did miss
She had been my servant
For two loyal years
But in recent times
To past came my fears
She died of a sickness called stress
If I’d only known, I would have given her a rest
But out of plans and schedules and terrible timing
I ran her rampant
And had set her a climbing
A staircase to death
A ladder of doom
A pathway which
Only plants in ones soul gloom
So there I was, alone in the twilight
Wondering if, I’d make it to daylight
When suddenly she spoke
And I shivered and choked
Until her fingers pressed my lips
“I don’t have much time, before the Specter Eclipse.
So listen well and listen hard,
for my words are on guard.
There is a phantom,
coming your way.
She’ll stop at nothing,
to plant in your heart dismay.”
Then vanished she from vision
Leaving me with a decision
Should I run like hell?
Or should I stay, think and dwell?
Upon the fact that a dead young lady
Visited me with her features all shady
She said there was a threat
But should I trust a silhouette?
How do I know?
That she was real?
Should I stay or go?
This all seems surreal
Her spirit seemed genteel
But her body seemed strong as steel
I don’t know the answer
These new questions and thoughts are like a cancer
But then it struck me, when I thought of these things
That she was the phantom
And a warning she did bring
So that I could escape
Her vicious rape
For the curse of the Specter Eclipse
Would cause her to slay
Those who had stripped
Her sanity away
Until all she could say
Was, “Run away!”
